Mabul is also renowned for its amazing array of macrolife, making it an underwater photographer’s dream location to capture some of the rarest ecological species on film. Flamboyant cuttlefish, blue-ringed octopus, spike-fin gobies, frogfish and moray eels are just some of the spectacular critters you will encounter beneath the waters of Mabul.

The island is a small oval shaped island fringed by sandy beaches and perched on the northwest corner of a larger 200-hectare reef. Kuala Lumpur Bird Park is the showpiece of the renowned 60-ha Lake Gardens. Also known as the Taman Burung Kuala Lumpur, it is billed as the world’s largest covered bird park. The 20.9-ha park was opened in 1991 and is home to more than 3,000 birds from 200 species all over the world.

Easily outdoing neighbouring Singapore’s Jurong Bird Park, the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park is twice the size of Jurong and most of its birds are free and accustomed to being around people. Gunung Stong State Park, or Gunung Stong State Forest Park (GSSFP) to use its full title, is a pristine forest reserve covering 21,950 hectares near the small town of Dabong in Kelantan. It was gazetted as a state park and eco-tourism site in 2007. It is managed by the Kelantan State Forestry Department.

There are at least seven sizeable peaks to climb, cascading waterfalls, including the easily accessible Jelawang Waterfall, caves, rare animals, birds and plants and more.

Sky Mirror is a name given to reflect a mirror image of the sky on an island that emerges during the low tide. A sand bank emerges creating an island which is shallow with a few inches of sea water that happens from mid to late morning.
